BASIS: Blind and Sight Impaired Society

BASIS aim to promote independence and reduce isolation within the community for visually impaired people and their families in South Essex. We offer a variety of services for those with vision impairments. These include equipment demonstrations, emotional support, activity groups including crafts and keep fit.. We can arrange for you to receive services such as audio book libraries, talking newspapers, befriending and activity groups. To find out more, do not hesitate to contact us.

  • Our work is entirely person centred, we aim to assess your needs within two weeks of receiving a referral and tailor our support accordingly. We can provide a visit to your home to review the things you might need such as kitchen aids, lighting and magnification.

Anyone in the community who is visually impaired.
