Essex Wellbeing Service: Alcohol Reduction

Cutting down on alcohol has lots of benefits and you can feel the results within just a few days. If you’re concerned about how much you're drinking, contact us to start your journey. Depending on what you tell us, we can help you to make positive lifestyle changes.

To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level, the UK Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) advise it is safest not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis.Units are a simple way of expressing the quantity of pure alcohol in a drink. One unit is 10ml or 8g of pure alcohol. The number of units is based on the size of the drink, as well as its alcoholic strength.
