The Mindful Life Group - Better Sleep Program for Carers

This is a free online course for older adult carers (usually 65+) who care for an adult family member, friend or child with additional needs. It is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is the NHS recommended treatment for insomnia and sleep difficulties. The goal of the group is to support improved sleep quality and duration, and decreased frequency of nighttime awakenings. We work with participants to develop healthier sleep habits and routines through techniques which aim to reduce unhelpful beliefs about sleep.

About our course:

  • It takes place in a small group of up to 15 participants, run over a period of six consecutive weeks, followed by a focus group discussion.
  • It will be held online via Zoom.
  • Home practice is a very important part of the course.
  • Participants will be given a link to a series of guided practices and handouts to download, the home practice is typically 20-30 minutes a day.
  • We ask participants to complete questionnaires at various points before, during and after the course, and we will provide you with feedback on your outcomes following the course.

Our next six-week course begins on Wednesday 18th March from 11:00am-12:00pm.
